Community Education

PAMC provides comprehensive bilingual education to adults and expectant mothers in the community. The classes aim to promote health and wellness and our prenatal education prepares women for the experience of motherhood.

Classes include Lamaze, Breastfeeding, Newborn Care & Safety, and Healthy Woman. To register for a class and obtain more information, please call (800) 307-2229.

In addition to educational classes, expected women are invited to attend our Family Day and tour our Maternity Center.

PAMC is internationally recognized as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility

logo baby-friendly mdThis prestigious international award recognizes birth facilities that offer breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies. Currently there are 253 active Baby-Friendly hospitals and birth centers in the United States, and PAMC is proud to be one of them.

Family Day & Tour
This is an opportunity for you and your family to celebrate your pregnancy, learn more about our program, valuable resources, and tour our beautiful, modern Maternity Center, including the labor and delivery unit, recovery rooms, and our new “mommy support room” where you and your family will receive guidance from our PAMC nursing team on how to provide care to your newborn at home.

Breastfeeding Class
Breastfeeding has many health benefits for both you and your baby. The Academy of American Pediatrics and most health organizations strongly encourage breastfeeding for at least the first 6 months. This class teaches you breastfeeding techniques, including how to improve latching and positioning, and how to know when your baby is satisfied. Our educator also talks about how to incorporate breastfeeding into your work and lifestyle.

Lamaze Class
This class is designed for expectant women and their partners. It teaches the process of labor and delivery, including how to cope with the discomfort of labor.

Newborn/Infant Care & Safety Class
This class teaches you techniques on how to care for your newborn, including bathing, sleeping and newborn safety.

Healthy Woman Class
If you’re planning for a pregnancy soon, this class will review how to prepare your body and mind. You will learn how to get to know your body as the first step and other important tips on diet and fitness.
