The Center for Acute Rehabilitation at PAMC is a comprehensive rehabilitation program to treat patients with debilitating injuries or illness. The goal of our rehabilitation program is to help patients return to the highest level of physical function. Family members and significant others receive extensive education and training and are encouraged to observe and participate in treatment. Our Case Manager/Social Worker also ensures that patients understand everything about their hospital stay and coordinate discharge needs for a smooth transition back home.

The Center offers treatment for all major disabling conditions including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple trauma, burns, neurological disorders, arthritis, and orthopedic problems.

The Acute Rehabilitation Program at PAMC is a CARF accredited comprehensive program with one purpose: help patients who have suffered a debilitating injury regain physical function and return home as quickly a possible. This video shows how our CARE TEAM makes it happen.

REHABILITATION NURSING

Rehabilitation Nursing assesses and educates patients and their families about required medical and personal care. In addition to providing 24-hour rehab care and integrating multidisciplinary therapy techniques, inpatient rehabilitation nurses help prepare patients and their families for discharge through comprehensive education and training.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational Therapy uses meaningful, functional activities to assist patients in becoming independent, enabling each one to care for themselves and perform daily activities like bathing, dressing and eating.

PHYSICAL THERAPY

Physical Therapy restores maximum function through increasing mobility and strength while decreasing pain. Treatment may include: gait training, wheelchair skills, therapeutic exercise, muscle re-education, mobility training, community re-entry and other appropriate techniques. An assessment of the home environment is done prior to discharge to determine any barriers and equipment needs.

SPEECH THERAPY

Speech Therapy will assess and treat a patient’s ability to communicate, problem-solve, and reason.

Other services we provide include:

     Dietary
     Psychology
     Respiratory Therapy
     Orthotic/Prosthetic consultations
