About the Center for Acute Rehabilitation

The Center for Acute Rehabilitation at Pacific Alliance Medical Center is a CARF-accredited, 23-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation unit.  We are committed to helping people rebuild their lives after a catastrophic illness or injury. Our program delivers comprehensive and personalized cognitive and physical rehabilitation care from a highly experienced, interdisciplinary team. Our therapy sessions involve real-life situations and challenges so that patients can regain productivity and return to work, school and independent living.

Benefits of Inpatient Rehabilitation

People with an injury or medical condition such as brain injury, aneurysm, spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple trauma, brain anoxia, amputation, neurological disorders and hip fractures benefit from inpatient rehabilitation. We also accept organ transplant patients and cardiac patients with ventricular assist devices.

Rehabilitation Focus

Rehabilitation focuses on an interdisciplinary team approach by physicians specializing in rehabilitation; physical, occupational, respiratory and recreation therapists, speech and language pathologists; rehabilitation nurses, and other health professionals who work with patients to help regain their greatest level of function and independence.

Individualized Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is individualized so every patient can progress at his/her own ability level. Patients participate in daily therapy sessions to regain functional skills such as strength, mobility, balance and activities of daily living. Rehabilitation also addresses deficits in memory, cognition, speech and language.

Family Support

Family support is vital to the rehabilitation process. The rehab team uses a family-focused treatment philosophy where families actively participate in therapy sessions with their loved one.  We also assist patients and their families with accessing resources in the community to ensure a smooth transition home.
